A Christian disciple is a follower of Jesus Christ. Sometimes we are tempted to prefer a comfortable and convenient discipleship. However, Jesus says, “If any want to become my followers, let them deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.” Christian discipleship involves sacrifice. When we make a conscious decision to follow Jesus Christ, no matter the cost to ourselves, we take on the lifestyle of stewardship. A Christian steward is one who realizes the fact that everything ultimately belongs to God. Even we ourselves belong to God. We are accountable to God for what we do with the gifts He has entrusted to us. Jesus says, “From everyone to whom much has been given, much will be required.” God has made you a steward, or caretaker, of your life, your time, your health, your education, your material things, your relationships, and your personal talents. Being a faithful steward means this:
- We gratefully accept the gifts that God has given us.
- We take care of those gifts and develop them.
- We give them back to God, in a way that is intentional, planned and proportionate to what has been given to us.
If the Church is going to fulfill its mission in the world, and if the world is going to become a better place, we must be good stewards. Part of our task here at All Saints is to instill good stewardship in the lifestyle of all those touched by our ministry. In this way, every single one of us will put our gifts to good use and leave the world a better place than we found it.

Youth Servers
Students 5th grade through high school age, who are open to sharing their time and faith in service at the Altar for Mass and other liturgical celebrations are most welcome. This is a great way to serve God in a special setting. Server training takes place once a year.
Adult / Funeral Servers
Any adults are invited to the ministry of serving at the altar of the Lord. You may want to serve with one of your own children or grandchildren, or serve on a team of other adult servers. Adult servers often serve at daily Masses and funerals. Servers are also needed for funeral liturgies as well.

Adult Choir
Become a part of our musical leadership and make a joyful noise unto the Lord! The parish choir is open to men and women of high school age and older and sings at weekend liturgies and on holy days/special occasions. Rehearsals are held on Wednesday evenings at 7 pm at the New Riegel Site.
Youth Choir
Students in grades 7-12 are encouraged to share their musical gifts by participating in the youth choir, which specializes in contemporary music for worship. The Youth Choir rehearses and sings at liturgies once a month as schedules are coordinated.
Funeral Choir
The Funeral Choir is comprised of parishioners who minister to the bereaved by singing at funeral liturgies. Rehearsals are held annually.
Technology

The technology ministry is a great way for people with technical knowledge to serve the Lord in a meaningful way. As technology becomes more and more integrated into our daily lives, projection/multimedia can be used to enhance our worship experience and participation in the Mass. Opportunities include videography during liturgy, especially during special rites such as infant baptism, First Communion, etc., advancing PowerPoint presentations during Mass. We are looking for a group of individuals who have a creative eye and passion for media presentation, sound/video recording, editing, etc.

Lectors proclaim the word of God reverently and effectively in the parish’s liturgical celebrations, so that it becomes living and active in the hearts and minds of the assembled faithful. Public speaking skills that are helpful include: the effective use of a microphone, careful enunciation, sufficient eye contact, appropriate rate of speech and proper use of posture and movement. Opportunities to lector are available at both weekday and weekend liturgies.
Ushers / Greeters

Ushers are men and women who make Mass at All Saints an enjoyable and beneficial experience for all who attend. They are there to greet and seat people, and pass out the bulletins. Other responsibilities include taking up the collection, straightening up pews after Mass, assisting people with health emergencies and ensuring that the collection is taken to the bank after liturgies. Training sessions as needed.
Greeters welcome parishioners and visitors prior to the joyful occasion of the Mass. These parishioners set the tone, lending their warm, welcoming presence to assist in various roles. In their welcome and Christ-like attitude, Ministers of Hospitality ensure that the faithful see and experience the love of Christ.
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion distribute the Body and Blood of Christ at Mass with reverence and dignity. They also take the Eucharist to parishioners in the hospital, nursing homes, and to those who are homebound. Every two years there is mandatory ongoing training followed by an official commissioning for this ministry. Ministers need to be 16 years of age or older and confirmed.

Children's Collection

This is a great opportunity for our very young members to take part in the Masses. This simply involves holding the collection basket during the Children’s Collection.
Processional Poles

Processional poles are used to enhance and highlight our worship during special seasons of the liturgical year. Through the use of color, shape, and texture, processional poles help to convey the spirit of the season. This ministry is open to all young people in seventh grade and older. The poles are large and do require some strength and practice to manage; however, rehearsals are held on an as needed basis.
Living Stations

This ministry involves persons of any age to serve in presenting the stations of the cross in a dramatic and meaningful way. Rehearsals take place weekly throughout the Lenten season. Lighting, Sound, Filming as well as those who portray the characters are all needed roles in this ministry.

Pastoral Council

The Pastoral Council is a consultative body to the Pastor. With the Pastor, the Council sets the mission and direction of the parish. Their meetings are marked by prayer, as they train their minds and hearts to discern God’s will and God’s spirit at work in our communities. Each year, they study and evaluate areas of parish life and pastoral ministry such as: Liturgy, Youth and Adult Faith Formation, Fellowship, Parish Facilities, Parish Unity, Healing Ministries, Social Outreach , & Administration and Stewardship. This study and evaluation leads them to make recommendations to the pastor and the Pastoral Staff, in order to help our parish celebrate the good news of Jesus Christ. Members represent each parish, yet serve the common good. Members are elected/appointed to a three-year term and are able to serve one additional consecutive term . The council meets monthly.. typically on Tuesday evenings.
Financial Council

Every Catholic Parish must have a Finance Council which serves as an advisory body to the Pastor. Members of the Finance Council are appointed by the Pastor. The council meets approximately five times a year. The responsibilities of the council include: aid the pastor in the administration of the parish temporal goods; review the total financial situation of the parish; assist in projecting parish budgets; review the current budget at least quarterly; review proposed extraordinary expenses related to parish needs or projects and develop appropriate recommendations; study and propose ways of providing funding for the parish;assure that all parish expenditures reflect justice and good stewardship.

Share your faith and your love with the youngest members of All Saints Parish by providing students from Pre-school through 12th grade with their Religious Education and Sacrament preparation. Catechists should be strong witnesses of the Catholic faith and anxious to proclaim the Gospel to our youth.
Volunteers require a background check and must complete a Protecting God’s Children Workshop.

OCIA Team

OCIA stands for Order of Christian Initiation of Adults. This is a faith journey for anyone interested in becoming Catholic. It is for anyone who has never been baptized, for those of another faith who wish to become Catholic or for anyone who has been baptized Catholic but was not brought up in the Catholic Faith. It is also for Catholics who would like a refresher course on what the Catholic Church teaches. A similar program (O. C. I. C) is available for children who wish to enter into the Catholic faith beginning at age 7. Team members would aid in the planning and presentation of faith subjects to the participants.
Youth Group Leader

A Youth Ministry Program within a parish seeks to help their youth discover and share their gifts, grow in life skills, develop a positive self-image, overcome prejudices, develop respect for differences, serve those in need, participate in the sacraments, develop a personal spirituality and prayer life, apply Catholic faith to daily life, integrate Catholic values, participate in the Church and develop a personal relationship with Jesus becoming his disciples.
Youth Ministry team members engage teens through youth group meetings, events and activities. Team members must be caring, kind, patient and willing to meet teens where they are in their spiritual journey guiding and leading them to grow in their Catholic faith.
Volunteers can serve as part of the Core, Support or Prayer Team. Adult Volunteers require a background check and must complete a Protecting God’s Children Workshop.
Parish Retreat Team
Every other year the Parish hosts separate retreats for men and women. Team members are needed to host these weekends. They help in the presentation and preparation of all aspects of the retreat. It is helpful to have some prior retreat experience. Team members help fill several different roles.
The retreat is open to all parishioners 18 and older. The opportunity provides them a chance to deepen their faith. It is a great way to enrich your life, your family and your community.

Funeral Dinners

Funeral Dinners are a way for the parish to reach out to families who have just suffered a loss of a loved one. There is plenty to do: prepare a salad or side dish; prepare a dessert; set up tables; prepare and serve food; wash dishes and clean the kitchen; and call volunteers. Volunteers help in comforting those who are grieving in their time of need.
Food Collection

Food is collected for the area Food Banks normally on the 3rd weekend of the month. Parishioners drop off their food donations at church. Volunteers are needed to gather up the food and other supplies in boxes. These are then delivered by the volunteers to the local food pantries. This is a once-a-month opportunity.
Military Committee

The Military Honor Committee works to remember and pray for our area veterans (living & deceased) as well as our active duty soldiers at the May Memorial Day Mass & Bascom's Memorial services. Also, when possible, we invite the Youth to participate in an activity near Veterans Day. Our past Youth activities include- thank you cards for Veterans, visiting veterans in nursing homes & visiting the Veteran's home.
Soup Kitchen

Area food kitchens are often in need of volunteers. Volunteers are created through the bulletin. Volunteers help to prepare & serve food. Days and times vary depending on the location. Please watch the bulletin for opportunities to serve in this ministry. This service is great for someone who simply knows how to smile!
Bereavement

A Committee of Hope member would be included in a prayer vine (calling chain) to pray for someone who has passed away in the parish. On a rotating basis, a member would send cards to a family member throughout the next year. You could be involved in making special gifts for the family for the Mass of Remembrance, normally on the first Sunday in November.
Giving Tree

The Giving Tree benefits organizations in need. Each year several organizations are chosen as recipients for the donations that are received. Paper ornaments are placed on a tree at the end of November. Items are purchased by parishioners until Christmas. Items are then sorted and distributed to the receiving organizations by the team.
Festival Workers

Lots of help is needed for our parish festival. several booths that need workers. Help is also needed with set up and tear down. This is a great opportunity to meet people, work together in fellowship and raise money for our parish community. This festival is held the second weekend in August at All Saints, New Riegel Site. Many hands make light work!

The Maintenance Committee appraises parish buildings and grounds to ensure that they are kept in good condition and make recommendations regarding any repairs, revisions or updates that may need to be made. This Committee meets quarterly or on an as needed basis.

Blanketmakers of All Saints Parish invite anyone interested to join us at the Alvada Parish Hall to cut, iron, sew and tie blankets for: Local persons in distress (fire, grief, illness), pregnancy centers and shelters, children in hospitals and military veterans to include our wounded and deployed soldiers. No experience necessary. We meet Sept.—May almost every Thursday (Jan. & Feb. every other Thursday). Hours vary please check bulletin. Come, listen, share and work with us to comfort others.

CYO

CYO Athletic Director
This is an opportunity to serve the youth of our parish in a team sport setting, giving them the guidance to apply God to their active lives in playing volleyball and/or basketball.
As the coordinator, the responsibilities include organizing teams for the 4th/5th/6th grade girls volleyball and/or boys high school basketball team. This position also includes recruiting coaches for the teams, finding someone to fill a position as the concession stand coordinator, providing team payments, coaches certifications, and any other required paperwork to the CYO office in Toledo, as well as organizing gym availability and referees for the games.
CYO Coach
In giving one’s time and talent as a CYO coach is rewarding. Helping our youth develop skills, good sportsmanship and lasting friendships gives back to our community and offers a sense of community pride. There is a pride in hearing an ex-player express the values gained during his/her CYO years. Coaching opportunities include both volleyball and basketball.
CYO Concessions Stand Coordinator
The CYO Concession stand coordinator will shop and buy (you will be reimbursed by the CYO program) the supplies needed for the concession stand. The coordinator will also arrive early to all the CYO home games to set up the concession stand and make sure the workers show up. When the games are over the coordinator will return to the concession stand to make sure everything is cleaned up and check inventory for future games.

Prayer Shawl

Care and the love of knitting (and crochet) have been combined into a prayerful ministry that reaches out to those in need of comfort and solace. Many blessings are knitted into every shawl. The knitter begins each shawl with prayers for the recipient. Intentions are continued throughout the creation of the shawl. The blessing is rippled from person to person, with both the giver and receiver feeling the unconditional embrace of a sheltering, mothering God! These shawls can be given out to those undergoing medical procedures, as a comfort after a loss, during bereavement, marriage ceremonies or Baptisms. There are endless possibilities! Members work independent of meetings.
Cemetery

Volunteers are needed to help clean and care for St. Boniface Cemetery Chapel. Their work begins in April and ends in November. This is a weeklong commitment where volunteers would come in and clean the chapel. It rotates between individuals and teams throughout the year. Participants would be on the list 3-4 times during a given year. Time commitment is minimal.
Knights of Columbus

The Knights of Columbus is a fraternal organization of Catholic men age 18 years old and up whose watch words are “Charity, Unity, Fraternity and Patriotism.” The Knights support charities through the parish and community. They work with the parish priest and support religious vocations. Becoming a Knight gives a man the opportunity to be a part of a special group of men organized by a “Parish Priest” Father Michael McGivney in 1882. Membership in the Knights is an opportunity to become a better Catholic, to grow within yourself and foster responsibly within the Catholic Community.
Rosary Alter Society

The All Saints Rosary Altar Society is an active part of the parish. This society provides the wine and hosts used at Masses. They support seminarians both spiritually and monetarily in their vocation. They work at both the Sharing Kitchen in Tiffin and the Soup Kitchen in Fostoria and donate items. Other projects the society is involved with is blood drives, Women & Girl’s Breakfast, and making and donate Christmas baskets.
